Ein Nacht in Singapore

We decided to 'drop by' in Singapore for 1 night - since it's just next door....and also to find out if we still preferred Hong Kong to Singapore.

Verdict: Hmmmm....difficult to say.....

Singapore has changed quite a bit since we were there 2 years ago. Additions are: 2 massive Casinos, lots of construction, more land (since the government is 'expanding' the island by literally adding land to make the island bigger) but....the English or rather, 'Singlish' is still as bad!

An example of our conversation with a cab driver:

Mishell: "Excuse me, what is this additiona $3 charge on the meter"?
Cab Driver: "Oh - this one ah....it's because-ah the government-ah thinks we don't earn enough money. It's like a surcharge-la... But-ah...its bad-oh...we earn much less-aww... Pee-pearl ah, dont like to pay extra-wan, so they dont take taxi anymore-la!"

Mishell: "You could decide not to charge us for it"
Cab Driver: "Aiyo...cannot-wan ah...last time-ah, the ah-der taxi drivers tried-ah...the government-ah catch them-oh... veli bad wan la!"

Mishell basically resorted to speaking broken Chinese English so that the taxi driver could understand what we were asking him. We had a good time laughing at the back of the taxi...it's fun to deliberately speak bad English.

Overall, we enjoyed our quick but efficient trip to Singapore.... Only drawback of this place is...the temperature!! It is so hot in Singapore! The thought of no winter or snow all year round is kinda weird for us to imagine.
Thank you Aivonne & Kenny for hosting us!! We love your dog, your apartment, and your fishes! When can we move in? ;-)
Back to more wedding organising once arriving in Malaysia. Urggghh.... :-( / Mehr Hochzeit Organisation wann zurück in Malaysia
