Day 3: Similan Islands

Fish are food, not friends!

BBQ night: We get to ‘dress up’ – only up till the ankles. Tradition on a Thai boat is that we are not allowed to wear shoes on the boat….its surprising how liberating it feels to walk around all day barefoot.

We ate and drank beer under the stars until about 9.30pm when everyone normally starts going to bed.

Our timetable on the boat is pretty simplistic:
- 1st dive of the day is normally around 7.30am,
- followed by breakfast of bacon, sausages, eggs and toast or rice porridge, and then hanging around on the boat until

- 2nd dive at 11.30am; then
- Lunch at 1.30pm followed by more hanging around on the boat
- 3rd dive at 4.30pm
- And then an afternoon snack of fried bananas or crackers etc.
- Night dive at 7.30pm
- Dinner at 9pm and then sleep at 10pm..

Think one could get used to this lifestyle pretty easily….. ahhhh….

Day 4: Similan Island #6 – the highlight

Last day on the boat, we were treated to beautiful island with pristine, white sandy beach. The princess of Thailand apparently has a bungalow built for her here on this island. This was by far, one of the best beaches we have been on! Get jealous. ,-)

Another highlight of the dives on this day, I finally got to see a turtle! On 2 separate dives! First dive was of a turtle eating away, oblivious to us hanging around him….and on the 2nd dive, the turtle was really friendly and curious and swam all around us, maybe hoping for some food.
